We are thrilled to announce that we made the Season Premiere episode of the Dragons’ Den, Season 18!

As we say in rollerskating, FALLING IS LEARNING!  We’ve learned so much from our experience pitching the Dragons.

Although they failed to recognise the incredible value of the community you’ve helped us build, WE know how meaningful that is. We hear from our community daily about how coming to Rolla Skate Club helps them with their mental health, helps them to feel connected to others, and helps them to move their bodies in joyful ways!

So, we’re not letting a setback on the Dragon’s Den stop us from achieving our mission together with you.

We’ve decided to move away from “the F-Word”… Franchising! Instead we are now ready to launch our Partner program with a much simpler, lower-barrier-to-entry licensing model. Learn more about becoming a Rolla Skate Club Partner and opening your own club right here!

We want to make it easy for up and coming entrepreneurs from underserved communities to get started on building their dream.

And we’re asking for your help!  We’ve launched an Indiegogo Campaign to help raise a seed fund to launch our Partner Program.

We want to raise $35,000, with our community’s help, to cover the legal costs and content creation. But most importantly, this money will help subsidize our first 10 partners to get off the ground for an even lower startup cost!

Be a part of our story, and collect some excellent perks while you’re at it! We’ve got some great give-back offers to say thank you for your support! Contribute to the Indiegogo here!

WATCH THE EPISODE ON CBC GEM HERE!

If you missed it, check out the CTV News article with Carla and Lucy talking about their journey and experience facing the Dragons in the Den.

Thank you to everyone in this incredible community and to everyone that has supported us over the years, in even the smallest of ways (high fives count!).

We’re so proud to have been part of this community for over 15 years, we couldn’t have done this without you.

Hey Rollas! It’s official – the dates for our summer hiatus from Rollerland are July 30th to September 11th inclusive.

Our last day of classes and events at Rollerland will be Saturday, July 29th, and we’ll be back in the building on Tuesday, September 12th.

Don’t worry, we still have all of July to have fun together at Rollerland, and some extra stuff planned for August too!

All current monthly members who keep their memberships active until July 29 will receive the following:

  • 2 free tickets to ALL Rolla events in July & September
  • 1 free PNE Fair ticket
  • 3 Golden Ticket events in July to invite your friends to skate with you – July 6th, 13th & 20th!
  • An invite to our Birthday Party Skate Jam Bash on July 27th
  • Members Potluck Social on July 16th
  • July Rolla merch Sale – 20% off everything!
  • Unlimited Golden Tickets for the Oct 5 Skate Jam – First one of the Fall/Winter season!
  • Access to the Rolla Discord channel throughout the Summer

All members who keep their memberships active through August will also get access to these ADDITIONAL perks!

  • All the benefits listed above for July
  • Rolla Online Membership until the end of 2023 – Enjoy tutorials & classes online to work on your skills at home or outside! $145 value
  • FREE Weekly social skates around False Creek throughout the Rollerland closure – come skate with a supportive social crew! We’ll have a skate-in-place group and a skate-the-paths group that will start and finish together – something for all levels. Social experiences are invaluable!
  • A bonus PNE Fair ticket! (2 total per member) $50 value
  • A 20-minute one-on-one session with a Senior Rolla Coach in September to help you unlock or perfect a skill! $60 value..but actually priceless!
  • 1 free guest ticket to the October 15th Van City Soul Skate Fall kickoff – $20 value

Maintaining your membership during the hiatus will have a huge impact on our little start-up business. Your support will help us reach our goals to improve your Rolla experience when we come back in September.

If you would like to pause your membership for the hiatus period, please fill out this form by July 14th.

In order to manage the administrative loadALL summer hiatus pause requests must be received by July 14th. Any pause requests received between July 14th & July 28th will incur a $40 administrative fee.

Our offices will be closed during the hiatus, so no summer pause requests will be processed after July 28th, and your billing date will remain the same.

Thank you for your support!

PLEASE NOTE: As stated in our Membership Policies, members can pause for up to 3 months per year with no penalty.

Questions? Maybe these FAQs will help!

Q. If I pause, what happens to my membership?

A. You will not be able to register for any classes, events or sessions on GloFox during the pause. You will retain your regular monthly fee when your pause ends, but your usual billing date will be moved forward according to the length of the pause.

For example, if your account bills on the 1st of the month, here’s what it would look like:

Credit pack expiry dates will be extended as well.

Q. Where can I skate while Rollerland is closed?

If you keep your membership active through August, we’ll show you the way with our weekly social skates in the False Creek zone! Dates and times coming soon.

Vancouver has loads of great outdoor spots. We love the Seawall and the Arbutus Greenway for trail skating. Sunset Beach is a great scene for skaters, especially on Thursday evenings. Lacrosse boxes, basketball courts and tennis courts are great flat spots, too (but don’t forget to share with other public space users). Really, any relatively smooth, flat and not-too-busy spot works!

Make sure to join our Discord server to share or find great outdoor skate spots, plan skate meetups and road trips with pals, or even start a heated debate about the best outdoor wheels.

If you’ve never skated outdoors before, we have some helpful tutorials to get you started:

Getting Your Rollerskates Ready for Outdoor Skating

Rollerskating Outside For the First Time

Rollerskating Outside – Level 2

Q. Will there be any off-site Rolla events or classes during the Rollerland closure?

A. Yes! For Active monthly members only (in other words, folks who aren’t on pause) we will be offering a weekly social skate, led by our Rolla Coaches! You can skate in place, or choose to join the skate-the-path group. We’ll start and finish together, and there may even be picnics and sunset drinks after 🙂 If anything else is planned, we’ll spread the word via Discord and the GloFox Community tab, as usual

If you have any other questions about our summer hiatus, you can email hello@rollaskateclub.com. Have a great skating summer!

We took Rolla Skate Club into the Dragon’s Den!

Rolla Skate Club co-founders Lucy and Carla flew to Toronto for filming on May 22nd where they pitched for investment in the next stage of Rolla Skate Club – taking this business model out into the world!!

Over the next 10 years our goal is to inspire 1 million people to reach their potential through joyful movement, athletic competition, entrepreneurship and education.

We’ve created a business model that can
⚡keep our roller rinks open
⚡ create a welcoming community
⚡ support our courageous athletes
⚡ provide joy, strength and connection
⚡ uplift new entrepreneurs

Now it’s time to share it with the world!

Thank you to everyone in this incredible community 💜 To anyone that has supported us over the years, in even the smallest of ways (high fives count!) We’re so proud to have been part of this community for over 15 years and we can’t wait to take it to the next level.

This is just the beginning. Let’s Roll Strong Together

Check out this great CTV News article featuring our Founders, Carla & Lucy and their journey to the CBC Dragons Den. They head to Toronto this weekend to pitch the Dragons! The episode will air in the new season starting in September.

June 5 update from Lulu and Bizzy:

We did it! We flew all the way to Toronto and pitched Rolla Skate Club to the Dragons Den investors.

It was an incredible experience and we couldn’t have done it without the love and support of this amazing community.

We have both been huge fans of the show for many years before either of us started our own businesses. Dragons Den has inspired countless entrepreneurs over the last 20 years – ourselves included. So this was a full circle moment for us and an adventure we will always treasure.

We are so grateful to the guest skaters that joined us in the Den to help show the Dragons what Rolla is all about. Especially the ones that flew all the way from Vancouver – you are our heroes!

To everyone that sent or posted messages of support – know that they meant SO MUCH and it literally felt like you were there in the Den with us. We rode that wave of love right the way over the country and into that studio.

And as with all reality TV – we are now sworn to secrecy! Everyone in the Den signed an NDA which means we really can’t tell you what happened. No, not even a hint!

But as soon as we know the air date (fall 2023) you will be the first to know. And yes of course we’ll have a screening at Rolla 🙂

We’re a busy place and lots of people want to skate! That means our most popular classes fill up quickly. Here are some insider tips and tricks to help you get into the classes you want.

Plan Ahead

  • You can book a class 8 days in advance, so if you know there’s a popular class you definitely want to take, set yourself a reminder on the day registration opens.
  • Our most popular classes are mid-week evenings after 6pm and weekend afternoons. So if your schedule allows, why not check out a Saturday or Sunday morning, Tuesday to Thursday lunch break, Monday evening, or other weekdays before 6pm?
  • When you arrive at a class that you definitely want to take the following week, check on GloFox before you leave to see if there is a spot, or ask our friendly Welcome Team to check for you.
  • If you are dying to skate that day and there is an Open Skate session at or around the same time as the class you’re hoping for, come to Rollerland anyway! People very often cancel at the last minute, and if you’re in the building, you can get the spot. Just tell the Welcome Team what class you’re hoping for, and they will let you know if a spot opens up. If you don’t get a spot, you can still practice your moves, say hi to friends, and get some skate time in.
  • Put yourself on the waitlist for every class you want if you know you can make it. People always cancel, and there is a good chance you’ll get a spotIf you don’t know how to use our waitlist system, keep reading…

Turn on your notifications!

SUPER IMPORTANT: if you add yourself to class waitlists, you need to turn on your GloFox app notifications. Otherwise, you won’t know if a spot has come up in the class you were hoping to get into, and waitlist spots are first come, first served! Here’s how you do it:

  1. Go to Settings → Notifications → Scroll down to GloFox and open it.
  2. Turn on the toggle switch to Allow Notifications, and choose whatever way you want to get them.

(We promise we will never, ever, ever send you any marketing or spam through your GloFox notifications. These are only for class and scheduling alerts.)

Waitlists – How-To

  1. Find the class you want. If it says “Waitlist Open”, click on the class, then tap “Join Waitlist” at the bottom. You’ll go to a confirmation screen and the class will be added to your Bookings.
  2. Make sure your GloFox notifications are on (see above)
  3. If you do get a spot in the class, you will be notified through GloFox. You’ll get a pop-up notification on your home screen, a notification will show up the next time you open your app, and you can see it in your Notifications list, which you can access through your Profile (tap the little round photo of you in the top left corner).
  4. If you have never downloaded the app before, you’ll receive an email notification.
  5. If you want the spot, go to Bookings, then Waitlist, then open the class. Tap “Join booking list,” and you’re in!
  6. If you no longer want the spot, please cancel ASAP so someone else can get on the list. To cancel, go to your Bookings, choose Waitlist, tap on the class you no longer want, and click the Cancel button at the bottom. Then you’ve opened a new spot on the waitlist for someone else who can take it!

Hope these tips help you get in as much skating as you desire. Can’t wait to roll with you!

Join us in making rollerskating history! Rolla Skate Club is proud to present the first roller derby bout ever to be held at the historic Rollerland Building at the PNE in East Vancouver.

Friday June 3rd

6pm-7pm: All Ages Skate

7pm-8.30pm: Roller Derby Bout

8.30pm-10pm: 19+ Skate

Roller Derby is a full contact sport played on quad rollerskates. Created in the 1930s as a team endurance race that thrilled depression era crowds, the sport died out in the 1970s but was revived in the early 2000’s by a group of punk rock women in Austin, Texas. The birth of social media helped spread this underground sport that focused on women’s empowerment and athleticism, making it the fastest growing sport in 2010 and inspiring the hit Drew Barrymore movie Whip It.

It’s been 3+ years in the making for some of the athletes participating in their first-ever competition at this event. They started their roller derby journey in 2019 with Rolla Skate Club’s “Roller Derby Boot Camp” programme, and have stuck with it through all the pandemic closures, and restrictions on contact sports. They are raring to finally get that first contest under their belts!

Expect full-contact, totally unscripted athletics and excitement as the newest faces in Vancouver roller derby join up with some of the city’s founding mothers of roller derby.

The first ever roller derby bout in Vancouver took place May 7th, 2006 and several of the athletes from that historic event are still part of the Rolla family! They include Co-Founder Lucy “Luludemon” Crosydill, Coach “Cupid Stunt” Sage Martin, Coach and Club Manager Andrea “AndiStruction” Fraser-Winsby, skater Kerry “Ludacrushis” Nyhan, and even their resident skate shop owner Lisa “Rollergirl” Suggitt! So it’s full circle for this derby family as they prepare for the first ever derby bout at Rollerland, and the first Vancouver derby event since the pandemic.

Parking is FREE for Rolla Skate Club members and guests, but parking locations change regularly due to other events taking place at the PNE’s many venues. Please see below for upcoming changes and alerts. Full PNE parking map can be found at this link.

We are located in the Rollerland Building at the PNE! On Google Maps, input Rolla Skate Club and you’ll see our exact location, at the intersection of North Renfrew St. & Dundas St. (The E Hastings address in our Google listing is actually the PNE’s mailing address.)

The best place to park is in the skinny lot with diagonal parking spots, aka the “bus loop,”  just north of Rolla next to Pacific Coliseum. During other PNE events, there may not be space in the bus loop, so your other options are Lot 6 or 7 @ Gate 6 just south of the Coliseum, or Lot 1 @ Gate 2 in front of the Forum. If a parking attendant stops you at a gate, just let them know you’re here to skate at Rollerland and they’ll point you in the right direction.

UPCOMING PARKING CHANGES:

  • Summer 2023: Many events happening around the PNE, especially on weekends, so some parking gates may be closed and roads may be busy. Please give yourself additional time to get here. If the gates on the Bus loop are closed, use Gate 6 or Gate 2 to park.

We’ve gotten lots of questions asking for recommendations on what wheels work best with the brand new polished concrete floor at Rolla Skate Vancouver, so we thought there is no one better to help us out with this than Roller Girl! Below she suggests different wheels for different levels of skaters.

The floor at Rolla is grippy and most skaters will do better on a harder wheel. Having said that, we do suggest grippier wheels for newer skaters.

Durometer – This indicates the hardness/level of grip of the wheels. The smaller the number, the softer and grippier the wheels.

BEGINNER SKATERS – Extra Grip – 84a – 92a

For Dance or Recreational Skating

Roll Line Devil Wheels (36D or 39D)

Moxi Fundae

Roll Line Fox

For Derby or Recreational Skating

Radar Villain

Radar Halo (84a-92a) – depending on the skater

For Ramps

Moxi Fundae

Bont Street

INTERMEDIATE/ADVANCED SKATERS – More Slide – 95a – 97a

For Dance or Recreational Skating

Radar Riva

Sure-Grip Fame

Roll-Line Panther (95a) or Mustang (97a)

For Derby or Recreational Skating

Radar Halo (95a – 97a)

For Ramps

Rollerbones Bowl Bombers

Estrogen Cereal Wheels

SKATERS WHO WANT LOTS OF SLIDE – 97a-103a

For Dance or Recreational Skating

Radar Varsity

Sure-Grip Velvet

Roll Line Leopard

For Derby or Recreational Skating

Radar Halo (99a-103a)

For Ramps

Moxi Trick

Everyone should feel welcome at Rolla Skate Club!

We launched this business from a desire to help people, and make people feel really good about themselves, using rollerskating as the tool. Our goal was to take the “special sauce” that we got from roller derby, that we personally saw have a profound effect on so many women, and make it more accessible to a wider community. As women co-founders (cisgender, heterosexual), we focussed on what we knew, and inequities that we understood, and so we made the empowerment of women a specific focus of our goals, our language, and our marketing.

That being said, we still wanted everyone to feel included at Rolla Skate Club, in particular trans women, and non-binary folks. And we’ve always had most of our classes and events open to all genders, with just a few contact-sport sessions excluding men.  We wanted to be clear that we welcomed trans women and non-binary skaters in addition to cisgender female skaters, and so in 2018 we included a statement on our website and social media channels stating, “We use an inclusive definition of the terms “woman” and “female” to welcome all trans + cis women, genderqueer, and non-binary folks.”  We have since learned that this statement was harmful, thanks to the efforts of community members who called us in and called us out about it.

What we now understand is that using language like “women +,” or lumping non-binary people in with spaces oriented towards women, is invalidating to the identity and experience of non-binary folks. We have learned that gender identity is not like a linear spectrum, and not static, but rather more like a colour wheel, with infinite possibilities, that may change over time or be constantly fluid. To suggest that any non-binary person automatically associates themselves with a women-oriented space or activity was wrong, and harmful.

We are sincerely sorry to those in the trans community, and others, who were harmed by our misguided choice of language. We are sorry that there are folks who didn’t feel like Rolla Skate Club was open to them, because of the language we were using. We are committed to taking action to repair relationships, rebuild trust, and make Rolla Skate Club a welcoming place for all kinds of skaters.

Gender Inclusivity Action Plan:

UPDATE, FEBRUARY 2022: Living document with updates now posted publicly here.

This is to become a living document. As we make progress on these actions and goals, this static blog post list will be translated to a live Google Doc. Even when we have “ticked a box” on this list, we understand and commit to our community that the effort and the learning must continue, and we must be ready to receive new information and make changes and improvements as we go.

For now, here is our action plan.

  • Participate in QMunity’s “Queer Competency Training” workshop with co-founders, team leaders, and customer service team members (DONE, December 10, 2021)
  • Share learnings & resources from QMunity workshop with additional team members, and implement new expectations around pronoun use (ONGOING- target complete by Dec 17, 2021);
  • Review existing Gender Inclusion onboarding training materials, adding resources and expectations resulting from our QMunity workshop (TARGET: mid-January 2022)
  • Remove an offensive gender statement, which was invalidating and harmful to non-binary participants, from website & social media channels (DONE, November 3-6 2021) and apologise privately and publicly to those who came forward to raise concerns (Public apologies made Nov 5 2021 and Dec 13 2021)
  • Revise website & social media tag line to remove reference to women, and instead read “An empowered community of strong skaters” (DONE, November 2021)
  • Update the name of our global Facebook community, from “Rolla Skate Club Girl Gang” to “Rolla Skate Club Worldwide;” update group description & rules (DONE, December 13, 2021)
  • Work with a paid consultant (non-binary skater & parent, Psych Ph.D candidate) to implement 1) a community survey & 2) a permanent feedback forum on our website (ONGOING. TARGET: end January 2022)
  • Continue to encourage all class participants to share their pronouns at the outset of each class, if they so choose (ONGOING since 2018)
  • Continue to model the use of gender-neutral group pronouns, such as: skaters, humans, people, athletes (rather than: ladies, guys, etc) in our classes and on our public communications, e.g. social media (ONGOING since 2018)
  • Continue to model our gender policy for roller derby participation and competition based on the frameworks of the Womens Flat Track Derby Association’s gender inclusion policy, and True Sport principles developed by the Canadian Centre for Ethics in Sport. (ONGOING – review annually or more frequently as may be necessary. Policy in place since Nov 2018)
  • Provide Gender-Neutral washroom facilities (ONGOING since we’ve had space rented). Continue to work with the PNE to encourage updates to their City-mandated washroom signage to be gender neutral.
  • Revise our “Our Story” webpage to move away from a focus on working with women specifically (DONE, December 2021)
  • Conduct a holistic review of the organisation’s internal Mission statement and Values to reflect the learnings resulting from community consultation. (TARGET: Spring 2022)
  • Build partnerships with organisations working in queer communities to provide opportunities for access to rollerskating (ONGOING)

As an organisation, Rolla Skate Club is committed to lifelong learning – we are always open to listening, learning and doing better. If you have any suggestions for how we can achieve this and do better, please contact us directly at hello@rollaskateclub.com.

Thank you to everyone in this community for believing in us and holding us to a high standard.

Since the start of Rolla Skate Club almost three years ago, finding a venue to host their in-person rollerskating classes turned out to be a challenging task. From having classes at parking lots, tiny yoga studios, and art galleries, to settling into the late “Skate Church” at Kerrisdale, Rolla has been everywhere.

So after many years of looking for a permanent home for Rolla Skate Club, co-founders Carla and Lucy have finally found their long held dream place; a 20,000 sq/ft space to host all of Rolla’s magic at the Rollerland building at the Pacific National Exhibition (PNE).

With the new space, Rolla Skate Club will be able to host rollerskating classes, events, roller derby games, and even a mini indoor skate park.

In the last year and half the COVID pandemic brought many hits and changes for folks at Rolla. So being able to finally get a big win after many, many lows has brought a lot of happy tears for the Rolla team.

“It’s been a long time in this community that we have been working under one umbrella or another to find a permanent home for roller skating in this city,” says Carla. Having found a space for roller skating not only means a big win for Rolla Skate Club, but also for the growing roller skating community in Vancouver.

“It’s so important to have a place that anyone can go to be active and build strength without judgement, that is also fun and indoors in Vancouver! Especially in the winter I struggle with being active as we all know how gloomy it gets 😉 so having a place that isn’t the gym where I feel connected to a community is so beneficial to my (and many others) well being!” – Rolla Skate Club Customer

The history of the Building at the PNE has shifted a lot, from formerly being known as the Women’s Building to becoming the Rollerland Building in the 1970’s. So being able to settle in a space that has a history for women and of roller skating has also made it more special to bring the skating groove and community back to it.*

The grand opening of the new and improved Rolla Skate Club home at Rollerland at the PNE will take place on Saturday, December 4th.

If you wish to join the team at Rolla Skate Club to celebrate their new home at the opening and roll the night away you can visit https://rollaskateclub.com/events/ for tickets.

This post is written and compiled by settlers, working and living on the traditional, ancestral, unceded and stolen territory of the Sḵwx̱wú7mesh (Squamish), Stó:lō and Səl̓ílwətaʔ/Selilwitulh (Tsleil-Waututh) and xʷməθkʷəy̓əm (Musqueam) Nations.

National Truth and Reconciliation Day is an important day for both settler and Indigenous communities. As settlers, we take this day to reflect on Canada’s unforgivable history of genocide towards First Nations, Inuit, and Métis people — the stewards of this place for thousands of years. We mourn for the hundreds of thousands of children abused, mistreated, and killed at Residential Schools.  We rage at the injustice of the epidemic of Missing and Murdered Women and Girls and our government’s failure. We call upon the Government of Canada to act now on the 94 Calls to Action. And we open our hearts and minds to ways we can better support, uplift, repair, and uphold.

Remembering that this is a year-round work and effort in the work towards reconciliation and healing for Indigenous peoples, here is a list of some actions you can take to educate yourself and others about Canadian history. Resources shared from Skipper Otto.

  1. Read the 94 calls to action of the Truth and Reconciliation Commission 2. In a summary report released earlier this year, the commission published 94 “calls to action” urging all levels of government — federal, provincial, territorial and aboriginal — to work together to change policies and programs in a concerted effort to repair the harm caused by residential schools and move forward with reconciliation. Even the act of reading these recommendations is an important step toward reconciliation.

  2. Wear orange. Read Phyllis Webstad’s  Story Behind Orange Shirt Day

  3. Read a book or listen to a podcast:
    • Media Indigena: a weekly podcast by Indigenous producers on a variety of Canadian news topics
    • The Secret Life of Canada podcast: “a history podcast about the country you know and the stories you don’t.”
    • Bead by Bead – Yvonne Boyer and Larry Chartrand: Bead by Bead lays bare the failure of judicial doctrine and government policy to address Métis rights, and offers constructive insights on ways to advance reconciliation.
    • They Came for the Children: Canada, Aboriginal Peoples, and Residential Schools – Truth and Reconciliation Commission of Canada staff: The Truth and Reconciliation Commission of Canada published this history as a part of its mandate to educate the Canadian public about residential schools and their place in Canadian history.
    • Residential Schools, With the Words and Images of Survivors – Larry Loyie, Wayne K. Spear and Constance Brissenden: “This essential volume written by award-winning author Larry Loyie (Cree), a survivor of St. Bernard Mission residential school in Grouard, AB, and co-authored by Constance Brissenden and Wayne K. Spear (Mohawk), reflects the ongoing commitment of this team to express the truths about residential school experiences and to honour the survivors whose voices are shared in this book.”
    • Summary of the Indian Act: This is an excellent, brief, plain language explanation of an act which is shockingly still in effect today in spite of its initial objective of control and assimilation, to “continue until there is not a single Indian in Canada that has not been absorbed into the body politic, and there is no Indian question, and no Indian department.”
    • Some other great books:
  4. Donate!
The Indian Residential School Survivors Society (IRSSS) is a provincial organization with a twenty-year history of providing services to Indian Residential School Survivors. They strive to provide physical, emotional, intellectual, spiritual growth, development, and healing through culturally-based values and guiding principles for Survivors, Families, and Communities. The Assembly of Seven Generations is raising funds to find a new space to host their marketplace, weekly gatherings, and an office. They are also looking for access to continue land-based programming. Here is the donation link. Consider giving “One Day’s Pay” without requiring a tax receipt (their site has recommended organizations for donations as well). Continue uplifting and donating to on the ground movements that defend and protect the land and Indigenous livelihoods: Tiny House Warriors (Secwepemc Territory), Gidimt’en Checkpoint Camp, Unist’ot’en Camp (Wet’suwet’en Territory), Braided Warriors (Indigenous Youth Organizing).
  5. Attend the Food is our Medicine Webinar.
Across the country, over 300 leaders in health care and community work are deepening their understanding of the complex relationships between Indigenous foodways, reconciliation, healing and health care with Food is Our Medicine. You can now explore a self-paced Learning Journey and a multimedia Digital Resource Library to learn about Indigenous perspectives, cultures and foodways, and reflect on how to work towards decolonization and reconciliation in your workplace and personal life. This series was developed by the Indigenous and Allies Advisory in collaboration with Nourish, and with the contributions of Indigenous artists and artisans.

  6. Take the Indigenous Canada Online U of A Course.
Indigenous Canada is a 12-lesson Massive Open Online Course (MOOC) from the Faculty of Native Studies that explores Indigenous histories and contemporary issues in Canada. From an Indigenous perspective, this course explores key issues facing Indigenous peoples today from a historical and critical perspective highlighting national and local Indigenous-settler relations.

Here at Rolla Skate Club, we have our Bursary Program to support students with class fees. Click on the Bursary Program link to learn more about how can you access or contribute to the Program to help others get rolling. We also offer subsidies on our Instructor Program for Indigenous and Black skaters.
